Story UK creates a series of B-Movie trailers and film to release Ardbeg Wee Beastie

MISSION Agency Story UK has created a series of B-movie trailers and film to launch Ardbeg’s new permanent addition to their whisky range – Ardbeg Wee Beastie. Smoky malt whisky lovers first had the chance to experience Ardbeg’s youngest whisky ever in April. However, the Covid-19 pandemic meant fans of the Ultimate Islay Malt have had to wait until now to watch the Wee Beastie movie.

Ardbeg Wee Beastie has been creatively positioned by Story as a ‘monster of a dram with a formidable bite’. The bottle is said to have emerged from the peat bogs of Islay and is now ‘wreaking flavour in its path.’

The film and trailers – shot in black and white – mimic the thrilling, authentic B-movies of the 1950s, complete with a monster bottle, suspenseful sound-effects and music and a deep-voiced, American male announcer. The films are appearing via social media paid-for advertising and e-retail channels including Amazon across Ardbeg’s global key markets. The campaign includes a coveted hotspot on film and move site, imdb.com

Produced in collaboration with HUSH London, animation production agency, the film was shot and produced through a series of stills, live action and CGI animation. It was voiced by critically acclaimed VO artist, David Kaye.

The campaign follows Story UK’s branding and packaging design for Ardbeg’s first ever limited-edition beer, the Shortie Smoky Porter beer, which was developed in collaboration with Brewgooder earlier this year. All profits from the beer will be donated to clean water projects in Malawi.
