Speed Communications hired by Konnect, the retail broadband division of the Eutelsat group

MISSION Agency Speed Communications has been hired on a retained basis by Konnect, a division of broadband satellite specialists, Eutelsat, to launch its brand-new konnect service, which provides superfast satellite broadband across Europe to people who struggle to get a decent broadband connection.

Konnect, owned by Eutelsat, provides superfast broadband with speeds of up to 100 Mbps to communities beyond the reach of the fibre footprint via a brand-new satellite. The service will be offered to the hundreds of thousands of homes that struggle to get a decent broadband connection, in the UK and across Europe.

The konnect team needed an agency that had a proven track record in the satellite and fixed line broadband market together with experience launching consumer tech brands across Europe.  The brief goes beyond this, to educate both consumer and trade audiences about the innovation within the satellite broadband category and position konnect as an accessible and affordable alternative to other Internet Service Providers.

Speed has developed a multi-channel strategy to engage both the consumer and trade audience with a programme of news and creative content to drive awareness of the konnect brand in a number of countries across Europe.

Speed Communications MD Kelly Pepworth said: “This win builds on our previous experience in the broadband space firstly with Virgin Media then satellite broadband operator bigblu and now konnect. With such a huge market opportunity for konnect across the UK and Europe, we believe PR will play a crucial role in raising awareness of the brand and dispelling myths about previous poor service from satellite broadband.”

James Soames, konnect Marketing Director in Europe said: “The Speed team’s experience within our business category and across our target audiences, together with their ambitious approach to our comms plan meant they were the clear choice for us to work with.”
