Brookson Legal Services appoints MISSION Agency Speed ahead of IR35 change
Brookson Legal Services has appointed MISSION Agency Speed as its retained PR Agency to deliver a campaign ahead of a major IR35 tax regulation change, which will impact employers who hire contractors.
The appointment will incorporate the full breadth of Speed’s capabilities, including video, podcast and visual content development, industry research and editorial reporting, alongside social media and reactive and proactive press office activity.
As the UK’s leading specialist IR35 advisor, Brookson Legal Services is uniquely positioned to advise private sector hirers and hiring agencies on how to manage the change, which will impact all UK medium and large businesses from April 2020.
To stop ‘disguised employees’ avoiding National Insurance contributions by claiming they were self-employed, IR35 originally obligated workers to classify themselves as either ‘employed’ or ‘self-employed’. However, from April 2020, that obligation, and the associated tax risk, will no longer fall on the worker, but will sit with the hirer. This is a significant shift and a major opportunity for Brookson Legal Services to expand its reach to directly support businesses, in addition to contractors themselves. Brookson Legal Services has appointed Speed to ensure its heritage and expertise is effectively communicated to hiring and recruitment organisations across the UK private and public sectors.
Speed’s experience in the recruitment sector, evidenced by its long-standing relationship with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, was a key factor in Brookson Legal Services’ decision.
Kelly Pepworth, Managing Director, Speed, said: “This is a complex brief with a clear objective. It’s an opportunity for us to deploy the full breadth of our capabilities on an important education piece for UK hirers, while championing the value of our contractor workforce in an area where we have significant expertise.”
