Job title: Senior Copywriter , April Six, London

Reports to: Associate Creative Director

As an experienced and progressive Senior Copywriter, you will play a leading and very active role in creating and executing campaigns for our tier one tech clients, nurturing more junior writing talent, and generating new business for the agency by developing your own powerful partnerships with our clients.

April Six Technology is a global B2B technology agency with a focus on delivering innovative marketing and communication solutions, through powerful partnerships, for leading technology brands. Headquartered in London and with a presence in Bournemouth, Bristol, Munich, San Francisco and Singapore, we pride ourselves on pushing the boundaries of creativity and marketing excellence.

As part of MISSION, our Agency has access to capabilities and services not typically found in specialist tech agencies, meaning our talented staff are not only able to gain an unusual depth and breadth of experience, but are also able to offer innovative and often unexpected and creative solutions for our client briefs, driving highly valued and long-terms partnerships.

YOUR TEAM

The Senior Copywriter works within a team of writers consisting of midweights, other seniors, and the team leader – our Associate Creative Director.

Department: Creative Services – Copy
Reporting to: Associate Creative Director
Direct Report(s): None, though you will be expected to play a ‘soft/informal’ role in nurturing the talent of graduate/midweight writers while working with them on campaign development.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

In this role, you will work with client services, strategy, and your creative team colleagues to develop inventive, effective, and integrated marketing campaigns, paying particular attention to originating concepts and activations, while also recommending content and content strategies.

You will possess the wisdom to develop campaigns in ways that balance our clients’ awareness, demand and commercial KPIs with April Six’s demand for award-winning work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing messaging strategies and propositions for clients
  • Collaborating with the art team, the Associate Creative Director, strategy and client services to develop concepts for new business opportunities either within existing client organisations or for net new business.

  • Working with our tech PR colleagues, where necessary, to explore how your marketing propositions can be leveraged through PR to maximize impact against our clients’ goals
  • Ensuring the production of high-quality (copy) product for every client, including undertaking or supporting proofing where required
  • Taking a customer-first approach to ensuring creative ideas and messaging will resonate with readers and activate the required behaviours
  • Acting as a brand guardian for your key accounts, developing ‘copy bibles’, training your co-workers on clients’ copy needs, dislikes, preferences, and acting as a sounding board for your colleagues
  • Helping the Associate Creative Director to nurture and and grow the copy team
  • Staying abreast of the latest copy trends, GEN AI tech and content delivery platforms and bringing that knowledge to play in campaign proposals

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • At least two years’ experience in a senior role/or a seasoned midweight already working to senior copywriter standards
  • An obsession with the written word and its ability to change perceptions, persuade audiences, and elicit beneficial behaviours for our clients
  • Deep passion for and understanding of the latest major innovations in B2B technology
  • Experience working closely with clients and strategy to develop strategic messaging and brand/product propositions
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills. You’ll need to be a confident presenter and interviewer – presenting creative ideas in pitch scenarios, interviewing client stakeholders and customers, and playing an active role in designing and running discovery workshops
  • Understand what makes an effective marketing idea and the ability to bring that to life as original concepts in close association with the art and design team
  • A sound understanding of the role client services play and a willingness to support them in creating powerful partnerships with our clients through the delivery of impactful campaigns
  • An excellent working knowledge of marketing principles and an ability to use them to inform your thinking and influence others’ decision-making around campaign and content development
  • An intelligent thinker with the ability to absorb complex concepts quickly and communicate them simply, memorably, and effectively.

  • Actively participate in your own learning day-to-day with the support of the Associate Creative Director to keep skills fresh and self-motivation high – there’s no wheel spinning at April Six!
  • Creative respectful relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business and collaborate with them effectively – managing up where necessary
  • The ability to adapt positively and quickly to changing circumstances and client needs
