Purpose of Role

We are looking for a talented and driven Group Account Director (GAD) to join our UK Technology agency. The GAD will be an inspirational, positive leader and trusted client advisor, with a proven track record of managing multiple successful client relationships. As an individual, they will deliver strategic excellence and be responsible for driving significant growth in their focus accounts. As an experienced people manager, they will ensure the highest quality of work is delivered, with strong profitability whilst building the next generation of Client Managers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive long term client planning and growth. Responsible for the financial growth of your account portfolio including proactively identifying and converting new business opportunities within them
  • Be the trusted advisor for clients, developing deep trust and visibility with all stakeholders, including those outside of marketing roles
  • Drive strategic direction for your clients, leading the development of briefs alongside Head of Strategy. Lead or actively participate in the strategic planning of campaigns and undertake commercial performance reviews for every campaign
  • To have an in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and the sector in which they operate
  • Ensure delivery against clients’ budgets, whilst maintaining margin for the agency, managing forecasting process, negotiating fees and managing invoicing
  • Own development, management, activation and regular review of Account Plans within your portfolio and team
  • Lead the agency team in client pitches and RTBs by dissecting client briefs and identifying insights in order to kick start the creative and strategic process
  • Lead any contractual negotiations with clients
  • Represent the agency at external events, undertaking speaking opportunities and contributing to marketing plans where required
  • Ensure that the standard of service provided to clients continually meets and exceeds clients’ expectations across all disciplines of the business
  • Own the creation and oversee the execution of personal development plans for your team
  • To ensure your team is optimised effectively, right people in the right places
  • To maintain and develop and apply extensive knowledge of all aspects of marketing including new channels, trends, strategies and technologies/tools
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the agency’s high-level business objectives and how they relate to your role.

  • Strong relationship builder at all levels internally with colleagues and externally with clients and partners.
  • Proven experience managing internal and external relationships across multiple geographies.
  • Able to problem solve for self and others.
  • Able to manage budgets and forecast effectively – maintaining margin.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Results driven, can be counted on to achieve and exceed goals successfully.

  • Experience working within a fully integrated B2B marketing agency
  • Experience of planning & selling (Pan-European) marketing communication strategies
  • Experience of managing and motivating a large team
  • Experience working with clients and team members across multiple geographies
  • Highly experienced at presenting ideas
  • Experience of working with technology clients
